Long time no post. Well, life has a way of hitting like a tsunami and in my case, it's been like one tsunami after another.
Last year we got chickens to "help" Lizzie deal with her headaches. The theory behind "Therapy Chickens" was that if she had something to look after, that depended on her for everything, maybe she would have less to cause the headaches. Well, that fricking backfired bigtime.....
Anyway, now we have chickens. Our backyard flock has grown from 4 to 5 to 4 to 3 and now to more than I want to say.
We've had about every chicken disaster in the book as well, the latest being a little Sebright pullet (11 weeks old) with Marek's disease. She's on Day 2 of conventional treatment, and as soon as I can locate the supplies, will be starting holistic treatment as well. Keeping fingers crossed that the little girl now named "Angel" will make it.
On the creative front: The "Jungle" Kimono Jacket is in the sewing stage. This is where I get nervous and timid and don't want to jump in too quickly. Ripping stitches out of handpainted silk is a nightmare. Pics to come.
Plans to get the DI commemorative piece up and running today as well although all may be sidelined by chicken and child dependancy issues.....
Spinning update: Working on laceweight pale blue BFL/silk blend dyed in my garage with indigo last summer. I'm trying REALLY hard to be consistent with the width and weight so it's a nice even yarn. more pics of that later....
